Duties and Responsibilities
- Answers call lights to determine patient needs.
- Answers patient’s questions, gives care as needed or alerts nurse.
- Performs a.m. and p.m. cares including baths, dressing, undressing patients, oral care, and personal hygiene.
- Prepares patients for meals, assists with meals, passes and collects trays, feeds patients needing help, passes nourishments between meals, gives bedpans, urinals, assists patients to commode or bathroom, ambulates patients, gives back rubs, exercises, repositions patients, assists patients in and out of chairs and wheelchairs, transports patients to different areas.
- Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration rate, intake and output, and weights as directed.
- Reports all unusual conditions or reactions to nurse in charge.
- Helps keep patient room neat in appearance, changes linens, runs errands, directs visitors.
- Affixes to departmental equipment and supplies, actively participates in team-oriented decision-making process, acts as a team player, willing to be flexible and open to other's ideas, focuses a portion of daily work towards high customer satisfaction.
- Performs other duties as directed by a proper authority as indicated in an approved Hospital policy.
- Affixes to hourly rounding and every two-hour safety rounds.
- Might be required to perform Unit Clerk duties as described in Unit Clerk job description.

- Regulatory and Departmental and Hospital Policy/Procedure Compliance
- Adheres to standard, goals, and procedures relating to the Compliance Program.
- Reports conduct that is known or suspected to be illegal or in violation of the organizational policy.
- Adheres to hospital and department policies, procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, infection control, and quality improvement.
- Maintains all required records, reports, statistics etc.
- Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings.
- Attends meetings as required.
- Follows all Hospital safety standards and participates in safety training.
Clarke County Hospital (CCH) Performance Criteria
- Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to hospital policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
- Maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
- P practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.
- Bridges any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.
- Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
