About the Role

A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides compassionate care to individuals and families under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN).

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care, including turning, moving, or ambulating patients, gathering medical supplies, bathing and grooming patients (brushing hair, teeth, shaving), feeding patients, and documenting food and liquid intake.
  • Checks vital signs, performs finger sticks, and answers patient call lights.
  • Cleans rooms and bed linens, stocks supplies, assists with some medical procedures, and transports patients.
  • Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols to protect patients and team members.
  • Documents patient care services timely and accurately while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by verifying preventive maintenance requirements, calling for repairs, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains cooperative relationships among healthcare teams through communication and participation in problem-solving.
  • Adapts assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate physical, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities.
  • Adheres to safety protocols at all times, including mandatory use of assistive devices for lifting.
  • Complies with all required conditions of employment, including vaccinations (medical and religious exemptions available upon request).
  • Undergoes respirator and fit testing for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet-producing procedures, or caustic chemicals.
  • Implements DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibits behaviors consistent with DRH core values.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to take call and respond within 60 minutes.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts are required.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved Oklahoma Nurse Aide Training program, previous healthcare-related experience, or other related training.
  • Certification by the Oklahoma State Health Department and registration as a Certified Nurse Aide.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification (may be obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer).
  • For positions requiring travel: a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance.
  • Must pass pre-employment and ongoing drug tests for THC (even with a valid medical marijuana card).
  • Fluency in oral and written English.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use email, navigate information technology, and use Electronic Health Record tools.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to urgent situations, including changes in procedures, tools, or equipment.

Notes

This is a safety-sensitive position as defined by Oklahoma law. Required vaccinations and respirator/fit testing apply per DRH policy.
