About the role

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to residents during scheduled work periods in long-term care. You will provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). This role involves delivering age-appropriate care based on physical and psychological needs as outlined in the care plan. You will be a key member of the nursing team, accountable for following infection prevention and control policies and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining/recording vital signs.
  • Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents.
  • Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment; provide range of motion and passive exercises.
  • Support food preparation and dining to create a positive experience for residents; assist with meals, snacks, water, and supplements as needed.
  • Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures when necessary.
  • Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information.
  • Communicate changes in resident condition and care-related concerns to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean and operational living areas for residents.
  • Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation.
  • May participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing required; certification must be obtained within four months if not already certified (facility provides training and certification).
  • Satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
  • Maintain all required department-specific certifications.
  • When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry (state-dependent).
  • If required by role, must qualify as a Sanford Category II Driver: valid driver’s license and motor vehicle report, and meet medical qualifications for driving per Sanford Driving Policy.

Pay

  • Salary range: $19.00 - $25.50 per hour, depending on experience.
  • $7,500 sign-on bonus.
  • Additional shift differentials for overnights, weekends, or holidays.

Schedule

  • Full-time position with 40 hours per week.
  • Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
  • Rotating weekends and holidays.
