About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our Inpatient Care Unit (IPU) team. Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting patients and families by providing personal care, promoting comfort, and maintaining dignity throughout their care journey. As an essential member of our interdisciplinary team, you will help ensure patients receive exceptional care in a safe, supportive, and respectful environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Personal Care: Assist patients with bathing, oral hygiene, shampoos, back rubs, changing bed linens, and other personal care needs.
  • Support Daily Living Activities: Assist with dressing, undressing, feeding, and other activities that promote comfort and quality of life.
  • Monitor Patient Status: Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure.
  • Promote Skin Integrity: Observe and provide skin care to help prevent tissue breakdown.
  • Report Changes: Observe and communicate significant changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse.
  • Absist with Mobility: Support ambulation, exercise, transfers, and toileting needs as directed.
  • Maintain a Safe Environment: Keep patient rooms and living areas clean, organized, and comfortable.
  • Ensure Accurate Documentation: Follow organizational documentation standards and complete patient records accurately and timely.
  • Practice Professionalism: Demonstrate compassion, confidentiality, respect, and professionalism in every interaction.
  • Prioritize Safety: Utilize equipment properly and follow established safety procedures.
  • Engage in Continuous Learning: Participate in continuing education, quality improvement initiatives, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Provide Respectful Care: Honor patients' preferences, dignity, and cultural values while supporting families and caregivers.

Requirements

  • Current Virginia Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the clinical team.
  • Comfort working with patients and families facing serious illness and end-of-life care needs.
  • Strong observational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

Qualifications

  • Current Virginia Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Current CPR certification.
