About the role
Vinfen is a nonprofit organization providing community-based services to individuals with mental health conditions, intellectual and developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and behavioral health challenges. As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals in achieving housing permanency, community tenure, and greater self-sufficiency.
Responsibilities
- Promote engagement and support individuals in achieving their goals.
- Implement nursing aide care and support duties according to the PS Treatment Plans.
- Document vital signs, administer medications, and ensure program compliance with Vinfen MAP protocols.
- Absent from regular medical and psychiatric appointments as needed.
- Facilitate access to healthcare and employment services.
- Assist with daily activities and provide transportation.
- Teach financial skills and encourage participation in community activities.
- Use motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and cognitive behavioral techniques.
- Participate in trainings, supervision, and staff meetings.
- Support the orientation of new CNA staff.
- Contribute to program quality improvement.
- Provide crisis intervention and assistance as needed.
- Perform physical site maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) valid in Massachusetts.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One to two years of job-specific experience in human services.
- Experience working with people with psychiatric conditions and/or co-occurring disorders.
- At least 21 years of age and hold a valid US drivers license for at least 6 months.
- Willingness to use a fully insured, personal vehicle during the course of the job.
- Ability to become CPR, First Aid, and MAP certified within specified timeframes.
- Pass a CORI, reference, and multi-state background and driving record check.
Skills and Knowledge

- Knowledge of nursing assistant principles and modalities.
- Ability to establish supportive and trusting relationships.
- Sensitivity to cultural, religious, ethnic, trauma, disability, and gender issues.
- Ability to balance competing priorities and make independent judgments.
- Proficiency in personal computer applications and equipment.
