CNA FULL-TIME SRMC
This position performs nonprofessional direct and indirect patient care activities including personal, physical, and comfort needs of patients, under the supervision of a professional nurse. This position will provide high-quality patient care in coordination with licensed medical staff.
About the role
The position requires observing and reporting all patient concerns/changes in condition to the Nursing Staff immediately. It involves assisting the Nursing Staff with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties. It also includes recording vital signs, assisting in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures, recording oral intake and outputs, assisting in specimen collection, maintaining a clean and safe environment, reporting necessary equipment repairs, preparing patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures, communicating with Nursing Staff regarding nutrition issues, and assisting with administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Observes and reports all patient concerns/changes in condition to the Nursing Staff immediately.
- Affords assistance to the Nursing Staff with admission, transfer, discharge, and general patient care duties.
- Records vital signs, assists in personal hygiene and other patient comfort measures.
- Records oral intake and outputs (temperature, blood pressure and other monitoring).
- Affords assistance in specimen collection and other activities of assigned patients.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent and/or control infections and to provide for safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
- Reports all necessary equipment repairs to appropriate personnel according to departmental procedure in a timely manner.
- Prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic procedures according to departmental procedure.
- Communicates with Nursing Staff regarding any nutrition issues, such as poor appetite or verbalized lack of understanding of diet changes.
- Affords assistance with administrative tasks to support the department operations.
- Answers patient call bell and relays message to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Current Certification issued by state where services will be performed: MD: Certified Nursing Assistant through the Maryland Department of Health, OH: Nurse's Aide Certification through the Ohio Department of Health, PA: Nurse's Aide Certification through the Pennsylvania Department of Health, WV: Nurse's Aide Certification through the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.
Qualifications
Prior patient care experience is preferred.
