About the role
The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as a caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long-term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to physical and psychological needs as per the care plan. Follows infection prevention and control policies and uses Personal Protective Equipment. Accountable as a member of the nursing team.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic health care needs, including daily living activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining and recording vital signs.
- Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents.
- Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment; provide range of motion and passive exercises.
- Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, ensuring a positive dining experience; assist with meals, snacks, water, and supplements.
- Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
- Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information.
- Communicate residents' changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse.
- Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
- Provide housekeeping and laundry services to maintain clean and operational living areas.
- Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs; encourage resident participation.
- May participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces.
Requirements
- High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing required within four months of hire (enrollment in a training program or obtaining certification through endorsement). CNA training and certification provided by the facility.
- Satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
- Maintain all department-specific required certifications.
- When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry for applicable states.
- For roles requiring driving, a valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle report may be required, along with medical qualification per Sanford Driving Policy.

Pay
Salary range: $18.00 - $25.50 per hour.
Schedule
Full-time, evening shift. Weekly hours: 40.00.
