About the role
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct home care services to patients in their residences, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. The CNA will work primarily in clients' homes, requiring travel within designated areas. Physical demands include mobility and handling various patient conditions. The role emphasizes teamwork, dependability, and adherence to policies and care plans.
Responsibilities
- Assist with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, mouth care, and daily living activities.
- Support patient transfers, repositioning, and ambulation to promote mobility.
- Deliver basic nursing care and prescribed exercises under supervision from healthcare professionals.
- Prepare meals considering client preferences and dietary needs.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in activities suited to their interests.
- Perform light housekeeping duties and maintain accurate records of care provided.
- Monitor and report changes in patients' physical or psychosocial conditions.
- Utilize EVV systems to document tasks and adhere to the care plan.
- Uphold confidentiality, patient rights, and safety protocols, including reporting any abuse or neglect.
- Assist clients in fostering independence within their abilities, always following the care plan.
Qualifications
- Maintain current certification with DFS.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Skills
- Effective communication skills, including reading and following instructions.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting (up to 50 lbs.), bending, and standing.
- Compassionate attitude toward patient care and safety.
