Facility: GSS IA Lemars • Location: Le Mars, IA • Shift: 8-hour night shifts • Part-time, 16 hours/week

About the role

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long-term care. Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily-living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents as outlined in the care plan. A member of the nursing team, accountable for following infection-prevention policies and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic health care needs, including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, and obtaining/recording vital signs.
  • Provide psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents.
  • Assist residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment; perform range-of-motion and passive exercises.
  • Prepare and serve meals and snacks, provide water and supplements, and create a positive dining experience.
  • Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
  • Document resident interactions, care outcomes, behavior, activity, and dietary information.
  • Communicate residents’ changing conditions and care-related concerns to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body-fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to keep residents’ living areas clean and operational.
  • Assist with and document wellness and recreational programs; encourage resident participation.
  • May participate in departmental or organizational committees and task forces.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred; not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing-assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing required; certification may be obtained within four months of hire by enrolling in a training program or through endorsement.
  • CNA training and certification provided by the facility.
  • Satisfactorily complete yearly competency testing and maintain continuing-education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
  • Maintain all required certifications.
  • When applicable, register with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry in applicable states.
  • If required by role, qualify as a Sanford Category II Driver: valid driver’s license, motor-vehicle report, and medical clearance per Sanford Driving Policy.

Pay

Salary range: $17.00 – $25.50 per hour. $2,500 sign-on bonus.

Schedule

Part-time, 16 hours per week. Night shifts, 8 hours per shift.
