About the role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) serves as caregiver to residents during the scheduled work period in long-term care (LTC). Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN). Delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per the care plan. A member of the nursing team, accountable for following infection prevention and control policies and Personal Protective Equipment use.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with basic health care needs including daily living activities: bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psychosocial support and personal care.
  • Help residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment; provide range of motion and passive exercises.
  • Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining, creating a positive dining experience; assist with meals and snacks, provide water and supplements as appropriate.
  • Aid providers and nursing staff with procedures as needed.
  • Document resident interactions, outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary; communicate resident’s changing condition and care concerns to the charge nurse.
  • Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs.
  • Provide housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents in keeping living areas clean and operational.
  • Assist and document wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident participation.
  • May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum age of 16.
  • Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of hire by enrolling in a training program or obtaining certification through Endorsement. CNA training and certification provided by facility.
  • Satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually).
  • Maintain all department-specific required certifications.
  • When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
  • May require a motor vehicle report and valid driver’s license if role classifies as a Sanford Category II Driver; must be medically qualified per Sanford Driving Policy.

Pay

Salary range: $18.50 – $25.50 per hour. $5,000 sign-on bonus available.

Schedule

Part-time, 20 hours per week, evening shifts with rotating weekends and holidays.
