CNA, Center City Skilled Nursing (PT Days 48pp)

General Summary

The Certified Nurse Aide assists nurses in carrying out routine assignments, transporting and preparing residents and equipment, and keeping areas in an orderly, hygienic condition. They must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation Program completion required

Experience

• Six months experience as a Nurse Aide in a geriatric setting preferred

Special Employment Requirements

• Cleared by PA State Police criminal history check
• Enrollment on the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry upon employment
• Must be 16 years of age or older (subject to child labor laws)
• CPR Certification preferred

• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients, visitors, and other hospital personnel

• Maintain adherence to nursing policies and standards
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information

Work Conditions

• Majority of work performed in resident living areas
• May also include transportation van and resident external appointment sites

• Occasional exposure to blood and body substances
• Exposure to needle sticks possible
