About the role

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Virginia Mason Medical Center, you will be an essential member of the "Team Medicine" approach, delivering compassionate, direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will enhance patient comfort, promote dignity, and contribute to patient safety and recovery while aligning with the organization's commitment to continuous innovation through the Virginia Mason Production System. Virginia Mason Franciscan Health brings together two award‑winning health systems in Washington state – CHI Franciscan and Virginia Mason. As one integrated health system with the most patient access points in western Washington, the team includes 18,000 staff and nearly 5,000 employed physicians and affiliated providers, providing the safest and highest quality of care at 11 hospitals and nearly 300 sites throughout the greater Puget Sound region.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, feeding, and basic hygiene.
  • Perform basic patient care activities such as taking vital signs, performing EKGs, and conducting bedside tests like blood glucose monitoring.
  • Observe and report any changes in disease state or symptoms to the Registered Nurse to ensure timely interventions.
  • Contribute to streamlined care processes and foster a respectful, healing environment.
  • Build trust and provide comprehensive, respectful care within a collaborative team setting.
  • Align daily work with the Virginia Mason Production System’s focus on continuous innovation.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant (or military medical specialty training) program OR a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (or active NA‑R and proof of passing the WA NA‑C exam) or LPN with the Washington State Nursing Commission.
  • Current healthcare provider American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills, plus strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic skills in using a PC.
  • Ability to lift, move, or assist patients using proper body mechanics.
  • Capability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs. and pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Must complete quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post‑hire using internal facility resources only (outside RQI resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance).

Pay

$28.80 - $40.62 per hour
