Qualifications

• Current license as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
• Minimum of 6 months experience as a CNA or clinical experience while enrolled in a CNA certification class.
• Sincere desire to serve the ill, aged, and infirm.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, and the public.
• Willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle residents of varying maturity levels.
• Good general health and emotional stability.
• Ability to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and occasionally hostile individuals.

General Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform all duties as assigned in accordance with facility policies, nursing care procedures, and safety regulations.
• Make resident rounds at the beginning of each shift and every two hours thereafter to administer quality nursing care.
• Verify resident identification before administering care or serving food.
• Report missing ID bands to the admission coordinator immediately.
• Make beds and clean bedside and over‑bed tables.
• Ensure water pitchers are cleaned, filled with fresh water, and within the resident’s reach.
• Other related duties as directed by the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses, or Administrator.

Clinical Duties

• Wash hands before and after caring for each resident.
• Place residents in correct and comfortable positions; keep head of bed elevated at 30° for residents on feeding.
• Assist residents with dental and mouth care.
• Observe and report reddened areas on bony prominences.
• Other related duties as directed by the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nurses, or Administrator.
