About the role

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Licensed Nurse. This includes tasks such as collecting specimens, running lab tests, performing EKGs, drug screen collections, and breath alcohol tests. The CNA also participates in unit activities that enhance and promote quality patient care outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Documents and submits required information and data in a timely manner.
• Clearly and accurately documents designated processes, policies, products, service offerings, etc.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems and maintains equipment in working order.
• Treats patients and families with compassion and implements the plan of care.
• Bases care decisions on the plan of care and monitors and documents patient response.
• Establishes rapport with clients and adapts communication style, listening and responding to patient needs.
• Recognizes age-specific responses to treatment and provides effective interventions.
• Respects patients' confidentiality and privacy and supports their social, spiritual, and cultural needs.
• Manages difficult or emotional patient situations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Vocational/Technical Degree in a Medical Field (Preferred)
• 1+ year Patient Care Experience in a healthcare setting (Preferred)
• Required Certifications/Licenses: Basic Life Support (BLS), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

Skills

• Technical skill in using equipment appropriate for role
• Uses correct terminology and conforms to required style and format for documentation
• Adapts to new technology
• Self-education and attends ongoing educational programs
• Completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time
• Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate
