About the role
This position serves greater Grand Rapids and surrounding areas. The schedule for this role is Monday week 1 and Thursday week 2.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assisting with activities of daily living, mobility, and routine health monitoring for geriatric and long-term care residents.
- Deliver compassionate emotional and psychological support, companionship, and patient-family interaction; document care plans and changes in patient condition in EHR systems.
- Perform basic procedures within scope (bathing, grooming, vitals, basic life support), ensure safety with proper manual handling, and coordinate with nursing and care teams.
Qualifications
- CNA with current certification and BLS/CPR
- Experience in long-term care, geriatric patient care, and home/community care settings
- Proficiency in basic life support, manual handling, and patient safety protocols
- Familiarity with EHR/clinical documentation systems
- Strong interpersonal skills for patient interaction, family support, and emotional/psychosocial care
- Able to provide companionship, pain management assistance, and assist with ADLs in end-of-life and memory care contexts
- Knowledge of physiology and nursing home operations; experience in dementia/Alzheimer's and memory care environments is a plus
