Pay
- Starting Pay: $15-$18/hour (based on experience)
- $2/hour Shift Differential for weekday 2nd & 3rd shifts
- $3/hour Weekend Shift Differential
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to our residents
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Help residents safely transfer and ambulate
- Take and record vital signs and report changes to the nursing team
- Answer call lights promptly and provide exceptional customer service
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment
- Build meaningful relationships with residents and their families every day
- Use the wristband or photo card file to identify residents before administering treatments, serving meals, etc.
- Use only authorized abbreviations established by this facility when recording information
- Report all changes in the resident’s condition to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse as soon as practical
- Record all entries on flow sheets, notes, charts, etc., in an informative, descriptive manner
- Report all accidents and incidents observed on the shift that they occur
- Agree not to disclose resident’s protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations
- Report any known or suspected unauthorized attempt to access facility’s information system
- Perform only those nursing care procedures that you have been trained to do
- Ensure that the resident’s room is ready for receiving the resident (e.g., bed made, name tags up, admission kit available)
- Greet residents and escort them to their room, introduce resident to roommate and other personnel as appropriate
- Make resident comfortable, inventory and mark personal possessions, store resident’s clothing
- Assist residents with packing personal possessions when being transferred or discharged
- Transport residents to new rooms or to the receiving area, assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles
- Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis
- Meet with nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas and improve services
- Report all complaints and grievances made by the resident
- Participate in and receive the nursing report as instructed
- Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids
- Make beds, put extra covers on beds as requested
- Measure and record temperatures, pulses, and respirations (TPRs) of residents
- Weigh and measure residents as instructed
- Ensure residents who are unable to call for help are checked frequently
- Check residents routinely to ensure personal care needs are being met
- Assist residents with identifying food arrangements and record food/fluid intake
- Report changes in resident’s eating habits to the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse
- Keep residents’ water pitchers clean and filled with fresh water
- Perform after meal care (e.g., remove trays, clean resident’s hands, face, clothing)
- Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Follow work assignments and schedules in completing assigned tasks
- Cooperate with inter-departmental personnel to maintain nursing services
- Notify the facility when late or absent from work
- Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals
- Assist residents with daily functions (e.g., dental and mouth care, bathing, dressing, combing hair)
- Keep residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, and linens when wet or soiled
- Assist residents in preparing for medical tests (e.g., lab work, x-ray, therapy, dental)
- Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents
- Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed
- Assist in preparing the resident for physical examinations
- Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns
- Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears
- Observe disoriented and comatose residents
- Perform special treatments as instructed
- Immediately notify the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse of any resident leaving/missing from the facility
- Use only equipment you have been trained to use and report defective equipment
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information
- Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of resident information
- Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property
- Honor the resident’s refusal of treatment request and report such requests to your supervisor
Requirements
- Current South Carolina CNA certification
- Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Passion for providing outstanding resident care
- Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization
- Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- CPR certification preferred

Physical Demands
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Prolonged use of a desktop or laptop computer
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, read, or hear
- Frequent use of office-related equipment (e.g., copier, scanner, fax, telephone, calculator)
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
