CMM Quality Technician

About the role

As our gatekeeper focused on quality assurance (QA), you’ll ensure all incoming production parts meet the defined requirements by operating a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and other inspection equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a CMM and review drawing specifications for incoming production parts, first articles, and prototypes
• Analyze problems, initiate corrective actions, and report results effectively
• Verify machined parts meet drawing specifications using inspection equipment including an automated & manual CMM
• Operate a variety of inspection equipment, hydraulic test devices, and specialty inspection tools (e.g., Profilometer, Creaform 3D scanner)
• Identify and document non-conforming product in a laboratory setting
• Update production documentation for inspection parts status
• Communicate inspection results internally to quality leadership and the quality department, and notify vendors of non-conformances

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 1-year CMM operation experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot existing CMM programs
• Experience working with inspection equipment and tools
• Ability to perform precision manual measurements using hand tools
• Basic ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Intermediate computer skills – proficiency with Word and Excel
• Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Strong analytical and communication (verbal and written) skills
• Superior time management, multitasking, organizational, and prioritization skills
• Ability to maintain a positive, professional, and customer-centric attitude at all times
• Physical ability to:
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and products weighing up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds occasionally
  • Stand or walk for extended periods (8–12-hour shifts) on concrete or other hard surfaces
  • Perform frequent repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, reaching, and gripping
  • Use hands and fingers to handle small parts, operate tools or controls, and assemble products with precision
  • Visually inspect products for defects, labels, or measurements
  • Distinguish sounds such as machinery alarms, beeps, or spoken instructions in a noisy environment
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary education or related training and certifications
• CMM programming experience

Schedule

• Second shift: Monday through Thursday, 3:30 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
• Training: First shift Monday through Thursday, 5:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. for the first 3–4 weeks

Occasional travel (up to 10%) to facilitate identification and containment of issues at vendors or in our warehouse.
