About the Role

The CMM Programmer will develop CMM production programs for new and existing products using Calypso, PC DMIS, or other software. Responsibilities include conducting and documenting first article inspections and capability analysis to support PPAP programs, supporting quality improvement efforts, internal auditing, and continuous improvement initiatives. The role involves participating in project kick-off teams to improve quality aspects of product introduction and requires a fundamental understanding of quality systems, SPC, and control plans.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain calibrated equipment in accordance with acceptable industry standards (ANSI/ASME) and perform calibration processes.
  • Keep accurate, clear, and concise records and reports.
  • Write programs from customer prints and models to complete quality checks on CMM equipment for given part numbers.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in programming software (PC-DMIS, Zeiss, Renishaw).
  • Design and procure fixtures needed to hold products for inspection during product development; set criteria for instruments and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot programs to ensure accuracy of part testing.
  • Conduct capability studies on new products as part of the PPAP process.
  • Take critical measurements using gauges, fixtures, and other measurement tools.
  • Analyze problems, make decisions, and take necessary actions to complete tasks.
  • Interpret inspection results and maintain a clean work area adhering to 5S standards.
  • Maintain safe and accurate equipment operations, using tools correctly and efficiently.
  • Follow Quality Management System requirements and applicable procedures.
  • Assist with training and mentoring junior team members in inspection and programming techniques.
  • Balloon drawings per customer/internal requirements in a timely fashion.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, from production associates to senior leaders.
  • Ability to function as a team player and lead without authority.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Minitab statistical analysis software.
  • Ability to interact with suppliers.

Skills

  • CMM Programming
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) knowledge is essential.
  • Knowledge of PC-DMIS software for measurement analysis is essential.
  • Knowledge of Zeiss Calypso software for measurement analysis is a plus.
  • Experience with ballooning software such as Data Page is a plus.
  • Experience with Comparator Checks or Faro Arm Checks for precision inspections and dimensional analysis is a plus.
  • Adaptability to changes in equipment, assignments, procedures, and methods; willingness to take additional training.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software is preferred.
