CMA, Medication Assistant, Certified, Assisted Living - FT Nights

Good Samaritan Society has provided over 100 years of housing and services to seniors with a commitment to quality care in a Christian environment. This position is at The Villa Assisted Living, 931 E F St, Hastings, NE 68901.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under the supervision of a charge nurse
• Deliver age-appropriate care related to physical and psychological needs per plan of care
• Assist with basic health care needs including bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing
• Obtain and record vital signs
• Provide psycho-social support and other personal care to assigned residents
• Assist with transferring, re-positioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment
• Provide range of motion and passive exercises
• Complete tasks related to food preparation and dining; create a positive dining experience
• Assist residents with meals and snacks; provide water and supplements as appropriate
• Administer prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within scope of practice per state regulations
• Document outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary
• Communicate changing conditions, medication follow-up, and care concerns to the charge nurse
• Collect non-invasive body fluid specimens and gather vital signs
• Provide housekeeping and laundry services to keep living areas clean and operational
• Assist with documentation for wellness and recreational programs; encourage resident participation

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred (not required)
• Minimum age of 18 preferred
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience preferred
• Satisfactorily complete yearly department-specific competency testing
• Maintain record of continuing education credits (minimum 12 hours annually per state requirements)
• Maintain all department-specific required certifications
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance when applicable
• Iowa: CNA certification with State Board of Nursing; successful completion of state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course after CNA certification
• Minnesota: Nursing assistant certification with 75-hour course; registered with Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry; successful completion of state-approved Trained Medication Assistant course
• North Dakota: CNA certification with State Board of Nursing; successful completion of state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course after CNA certification; Medication Assistant I certification required for Assisted Living/Basic Care; Medication Assistant II certification required for skilled nursing facility
• South Dakota: Successful completion of state-approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course; CMA certification maintained with State Board of Nursing
• All Good Samaritan Society locations: State-required certified/trained medication aide certification (CMA or TMA); CNA certification assumed prerequisite for TMA/CMA

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week. Night shifts: 10:30 pm – 7:00 am, every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Pay

Salary range: $18.50 – $28.00 per hour, plus generous night and weekend shift differentials.
