Job Summary
This position is responsible for pre-visit planning, standard rooming responsibilities, assisting with procedures, discharge instructions, and carrying out both administrative and clinical tasks as directed by a medical provider. This position is instrumental in helping the patient feel at ease while collaborating with the provider throughout the patient's visit.
What You Will Do
- Room patients
- Perform and document vital signs and patient backgrounds
- Cook CMA/LPN- Residency- East Mason
- Coordinate provider schedules and appointments
- Enter orders and prepare patient charts
- Instruct patients and families as directed within scope of licensure or certification
- Prepare patients and assist medical providers with in-office procedures
- Prepare and administer medications/immunizations
- Maintain exam rooms and equipment to be within infection control standards
- Ensure appropriate levels of medical supplies for each patient room
Education Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or Practical Nursing program
- Minimum of 160 hours of direct patient care experience as a MA/LPN obtained through professional MA/LPN work experience or completion of student clinical rotations
- Required current clinical experience as a Medical Assistant
- Possibly preferred current clinical experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of principles and skills needed for practical nurse or medical assistant to provide patient care
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
- Fosters work and patient relationships through excellent interpersonal skills and behaviors
- Ability to work under stressful or emergency situations with high concentration and energy level
- Ability to prioritize work and meet changing demands
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Possess skills to effectively solve problems
- Proficient in the use of EMR systems, computer, phone, and office equipment
- Possess effective written and verbal communication
