About the role

MercyOne Central Iowa operates multiple healthcare facilities including four hospitals and several clinics in Des Moines and surrounding areas. Founded in 1893 by the Sisters of Mercy, the organization is part of MercyOne, a network of Catholic healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates professional communication with patients, families, medical staff, and other departments.
• Establishes and maintains healthy interpersonal relationships with healthcare members, patients, and families.
• Acts as a patient advocate, addressing and resolving concerns.
• Participates in staff development activities and orientation.
• Operates various office machines and participates in team efforts.
• Assists with procedures, exams, and diagnostic equipment operations as assigned.
• Maintains aseptic techniques and accurately documents patient interactions.
• Performs basic nursing functions under direction and supervision of a physician.
• Maintains current CMA certification.

Requirements

• CPR certified.
• Minimum knowledge and skills required, including principles of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes.
• CMA certification must be obtained within the first year of employment and maintained thereafter.
• Clinic/physician office experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Extensive technical or specialized training, such as CMA or MLT.
• Current CMA certification.
