About the Role

The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. May be assigned to a specific medical specialty department (e.g., orthopedics).

Responsibilities

• Perform Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injections.
• Convey necessary information to patients and families.
• Assist with specific tasks related to the medical practice.
• Plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
• Demonstrate compassion and caring in interactions with patients and families.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
• Medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution or a community college course in medical assisting.
• Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.
• Certified Medical Assistant within 26 months of hire.
• Current CPR certification.

If not yet a CMA, Hendrick Clinic will provide all hours required for the CMA exam and cover the fee for the first exam.
