About the Role
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. May be assigned to a specific medical specialty department (e.g., orthopedics).
Responsibilities
- Perform Electrocardiogram (EKG), vital signs, venipuncture, capillary, and injections.
- Convey necessary information to patients and families.
- Assist with specific tasks related to the medical practice.
- Plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
- Demonstrate compassion and caring in interactions with patients and families.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
- Medical assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution or a community college course in medical assisting.
- Minimum one year of recent experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office.
- Certified Medical Assistant within 26 months of hire.
- Current CPR certification.
If not yet a CMA, Hendrick Clinic will provide all hours required for the CMA exam and cover the fee for the first exam.
