About the Role

This position involves working under the direction of Licensed Healthcare Professionals within a jail or detention facility. The Certified Medical Assistant will perform clinical and administrative tasks to support patient care and clinic operations.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule appointments and maintain medical records information.
  • Take and record vital signs, prepare patients for examination.
  • Draw blood and apply/read Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) skin tests.
  • Enter medical and social histories, perform intakes and discharges for patients.
  • Assist Healthcare Providers with clinic procedures and patient flow.
  • Know and apply vaccine requirements for patients from newborns through adulthood.
  • Utilize knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS coding for clinic procedures and physician billing.

Requirements

  • One year of Medical Assistant experience required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant Certificate required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course required.
  • Proficiency in CRT and typing.
  • THS/CHIP EMR experience required.
  • Pre-employment drug screening, background screening, and security clearance required.

Skills

  • Highly effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of patient flow processes in a clinic setting.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
