About the Role
This position involves working under the direction of Licensed Healthcare Professionals within a jail or detention facility. The Certified Medical Assistant will perform clinical and administrative tasks to support patient care and clinic operations.
Responsibilities
- Schedule appointments and maintain medical records information.
- Take and record vital signs, prepare patients for examination.
- Draw blood and apply/read Purified Protein Derivative (PPD) skin tests.
- Enter medical and social histories, perform intakes and discharges for patients.
- Assist Healthcare Providers with clinic procedures and patient flow.
- Know and apply vaccine requirements for patients from newborns through adulthood.
- Utilize knowledge of ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS coding for clinic procedures and physician billing.
Requirements
- One year of Medical Assistant experience required.
- Certified Medical Assistant Certificate required.
- CPR certification required.
- High School Education or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course required.
- Proficiency in CRT and typing.
- THS/CHIP EMR experience required.
- Pre-employment drug screening, background screening, and security clearance required.
Skills
- Highly effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of patient flow processes in a clinic setting.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
