About the role
The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago, a luxury hotel in the historic Gold Coast, offers a unique blend of urban exploration and relaxation. Our Club Lounge Attendants play a crucial role in ensuring guests have an exceptional experience, from providing personalized service to managing the lounge's operational needs.
Responsibilities
- Welcome guests and provide attentive food and beverage service
- Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the lounge
- Anticipate and meet the needs of guests
- Prepare and serve continental breakfast, honor bar, and hors d'oeuvres
- Offer information and assistance regarding local attractions and services
- Service guest comments and complaints according to procedure
- Set up and maintain the continental breakfast buffet, honor bar, and hors d'oeuvres
- Replenish food and beverage items during meal periods
- Ensure all food items are kept at safe temperatures
- Keep tables bussed and cleaned throughout the lounge's operating hours
- Assist with service if required and replenish coffee as time permits
- Greet each guest as they arrive and assist with service
- Build rapport with all guests at all times, solving problems when able and reporting any complaints or issues immediately to management for resolution
- Learn about the hotel’s guests through conversations, aiming to learn three pieces of information about at least 10 guests per day
- Create and maintain a pleasant presentation
- Maintain a clean area, store food, and remove all trash
- Take out trash to the dumpster as needed
- Continuously look for cost-effective ways to improve the appeal of the lounge
- Aids in maintaining safety equipment and emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and employees
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Bartending training and certification, TIPS Certified
- Servsafe Food Safety Certified
- One year previous customer service related experience
- Knowledge of safe food handling processes
- General knowledge of basic customer service skills
- Competent in oral and written English
- Ability to read and understand written communications and handle paperwork processing

- High school graduate level mathematical aptitude

- Pushing carts, Queen Marys, hotbox, portable bar up to 100 lbs
- Continuous standing required to service guest functions

- Must be highly organized and able to pay attention to sound and sight details in crowded and noisy situations, particularly when handling multiple tasks
- Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations
