Cloud Systems Engineer
About the role
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Cloud Systems Engineer to support a technology and engineering firm that develops specialized solutions for complex data collection, analysis, and mission-critical communications in highly demanding environments. There are 2 openings available for this role. This position is on-site based in Fairfax, VA. This is a direct placement opportunity supporting internal R&D efforts within a well-established engineering focused environment offering long term stability and growth.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain secure AWS cloud infrastructure (EC2, VPC, storage, and networking).
- Build and support scalable cloud platforms for mission-critical applications.
- Administer and optimize Linux systems for performance, reliability, and availability.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop and deploy cloud-native solutions.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure, network, and system issues across environments.
Required Qualifications
- Strong Linux systems administration experience in enterprise or cloud-based environments.
- Experience supporting AWS GovCloud or other highly secure cloud environments.
- Experience supporting Intelligence Community, DoD, or other federal government programs.
- AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, Cloud Practitioner, etc.).
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud orchestration technologies.
- Familiarity with security frameworks, compliance requirements, and accreditation processes within classified environments.
- Active Top Secret Clearance or higher
Compensation
Salary Range: $115,000 – $150,000 Depending on Experience
Benefits Package: an amount equivalent to 25% of your annual salary to an Individual Benefits Account (IBA). This account is used to help cover the costs of Health Benefits and Paid Time Off. The plan offers employees the flexibility to choose how they spend the money based off their own individual/family needs. The IBA can be used to pay for the following:
- Medical, Dental and Vision, and supplemental insurance premiums
- Medical, dental, eye care, prescription costs, and co-pays not covered by insurance
- Childcare reimbursement
- Time Off with Pay (TOWP)
- Any balance remaining as of December 31 in one year and not used will be paid out in the January paycheck of the following year as income.
