About the role
The Cloud Systems Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert across multiple projects, designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable cloud-based solutions. This role is critical to optimizing performance, ensuring security, and driving efficiency in a complex enterprise cloud infrastructure. The engineer will work hands-on with technologies like Terraform, GitLab, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define cloud strategies and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy cloud solutions using Terraform, GitLab, and GCP
- Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for high availability and performance
- Automate cloud services and processes using scripting tools
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot reliability and security issues
- Define cloud strategies and requirements in partnership with cross-functional teams
- Implement cost-effective cloud usage practices
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry standards
- Provide technical expertise in cloud architecture
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to team development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology
- 5+ years in cloud engineering, with emphasis on large-scale cloud solutions (GCP required)
- 4+ years in cloud networking and security architecture
- 3+ years with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager)
- Experience with containerization (Kubernetes, Docker)
- Proven troubleshooting and high-availability maintenance experience
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Strategic planning and roadmap development experience
Qualifications
- Google Professional Cloud Architect or Associate Cloud Engineer certification
