EngineeringFull-time

About the role

As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you will join a highly motivated and experienced team and think through scaling our platform from a small pilot to enterprise scale. You will architect for tens of thousands of users on AWS, design the caching, multi-region and federation strategies that keep the platform fast and resilient across geographies, and ensure the architecture meets the security and access-control needs of sensitive content. We are looking for people who can bring a strong, consulting and solution-focused mindset and contribute to architectural decisions, best practices, and get things done.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the platform for enterprise scale (tens of thousands of users) on AWS.
  • Evaluate scalability of the Postgres/Supabase backend; design caching tiers, multi-region, and global federation as needed.
  • Own the load-testing strategy and responsiveness targets across geographies.
  • Ensure the architecture meets security and access-control needs for sensitive content.
  • Produce architecture diagrams, decision records, and technical standards.
  • Guide and mentor engineers on cloud best practices and patterns.
  • Define non-functional requirements (availability, resilience, cost, observability).
  • Partner with security and compliance to meet enterprise controls.
  • Support build-vs-buy decisions and technology evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field; 8+ years in engineering, with 3+ years in architecture.
  • Senior cloud architecture experience on AWS; certification (e.g., Solutions Architect Professional) preferred.
  • Experience designing high-scale, low-latency, multi-region distributed systems.
  • Caching strategies, data federation, and performance/load testing.
  • Security architecture, including role- and attribute-based access control (RBAC/ABAC).
  • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation) and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Strong grasp of networking, IAM, cost optimization, and observability tooling.
  • Ability to work within an established enterprise engineering lifecycle and hit the ground running.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and technical leadership skills.

Who You Are

  • You think about how to scale, automate, and operate, not just how to build a solution to an immediate problem.
  • You understand lean thinking.
  • You set high standards for code quality, performance/scalability, and security and seek continuous improvement.
  • You have solid analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • You have a customer-first mindset and a devotion to customer service.
  • You engage and build positive internal and external client relationships while managing multiple initiatives, often with competing priorities.
  • You have strong self-initiative, passion, interpersonal, oral and written communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work, influence, and make an impact in a cross-functional environment with all levels of the organization.
  • You are responsive and thrive in a fast-paced, diverse, high-performance environment with rapidly changing business needs.
  • You actively seek out things outside your comfort zone with the ability to rapidly learn and take advantage of new concepts, business models, and technologies.
  • You have prior experience in consulting.
  • Prior experience and connections in the Life Sciences industry is preferred.
