About the role
As a Cloud Solutions Architect, you will participate in software development efforts across the entire software engineering life cycle, including scope estimation, design, documentation, implementation, testing, and integration. You will design and develop new applications, maintain multiple tools, and assist in solving software architecture challenges. The role involves managing virtual and physical servers on VMware with Windows Server 2008-2016, Ubuntu, and CentOS, ensuring security, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and implementing best practices for data protection and disaster recovery.
Responsibilities
- Participate in software development through all phases of the software engineering life cycle, including scope and work estimation, design, documentation, implementation, testing, and integration.
- Design and develop new applications to meet the Client mission, as well as maintain and provide O&M for multiple tools.
- Develop solutions to software architecture problems and broad design challenges.
- Manage virtual and physical servers on a virtualization platform (VMware) with Windows Server 2008-2016, Ubuntu, CentOS, and other operating systems.
- Ensure server infrastructure security by implementing industry best practices for privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
- Proactively anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and correct hardware and software issues on servers and workstations.
- Manage the physical environment of server racks, including cable management, documentation, labeling, and KVM switching for console and remote access.
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors, document problems and resolutions, prioritize issues, and assess their impact.
- Perform regular backup operations and implement processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Monitor systems daily and respond immediately to performance, security, or usability concerns.
- Review application logs to sustain system integrity and security.
- Perform software and hardware upgrades, patches, and reconfigurations.
- Manage end-user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices.
- Install and manage cloud-based applications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of an organization.
- Respond to and resolve help desk and JIRA requests.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience independently designing and developing cloud-based applications using current best practices and architectural guidelines.
- Experience in software engineering, applications development, or web application development and deployment.
- Experience with object-oriented development in modern languages (Java, Go, C#).
- Experience developing front ends in modern frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.
- Experience developing in a Linux environment (CentOS/Ubuntu/Rocky).
- Experience developing in commercial clouds such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience developing containerized applications using Kubernetes.
- Experience with orchestration tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Helm.
- Experience with networking and Virtual Private Network (VPN) protocols like OpenVPN, Wireguard, and IPSec.
- Experience managing end-user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices.
- Experience installing and managing cloud-based applications in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience performing software and hardware upgrades, patches, and reconfigurations.
- Experience managing the physical environment of server racks, including cable management, documentation, labeling, and KVM switching.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software errors, documenting problems and resolutions, and assessing impact.
- Experience performing regular backup operations and implementing data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.
- Experience monitoring systems daily and responding to performance, security, or usability concerns.
- Experience reviewing application logs to sustain system integrity and security.
- Experience communicating technical issues and resolutions across all levels of an organization.

Clearance
TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required.

Pay
Salary range: $160,000 – $210,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, skills, geographic location, contract requirements, applicable labor categories, and funding.
