About the role
Leverage advances in data science to support challenging analytic problems including information overload, discovery, attribution, tracking, and assessment. Develop an evolving suite of operational prototypes driven by state-of-the-art data science techniques for behavioral, geo-temporal, social, and content analysis against full-scale collection in robust, flexible, and multi-tenant cloud environments. Research to advance the science of machine learning and statistics in mission problems.
Telework: Possible up to 2 days a week if tasking is available. Not guaranteed. Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with agency-appropriate polygraph are required.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test new features and capabilities for Apache/Accumulo needed to support large content and metadata repositories.
- Conduct Apache/Accumulo training sessions, including hands-on software configuration and programming exercises.
- Develop web-based user interfaces to support search and presentation of operational data.
- Develop web services that provide REST-based APIs to content and metadata repositories.
- Develop algorithms to operate on large volumes of operational metadata, investigating advanced parallel programming techniques for implementing analytics that can effectively run on petabyte-scale operational data sets in a secure manner.
- Design, implement, and test mission-relevant analytics for deployment in content and metadata repositories.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency-appropriate polygraph.
- United States Citizenship.
- Within the last ten years, a minimum of seven years combined programming experience with Java, C++, or Python.
- Within the last seven years, a minimum of five years experience designing and developing applications in a Windows or UNIX/Linux operating environment.
- Within the last three years, a minimum of one year of experience using database technologies such as Apache Accumulo, MongoDB, ScyllaDB, Google Cloud Bigtable, Amazon DynamoDB, Azure Cosmos DB, Postgres, or equivalent technologies.
- Within the last three years, a minimum of one year of experience using distributed batch- or stream-processing solutions such as Ray, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Apache Beam, Databricks, or cloud-native data-processing services.
- Within the last three years, a minimum of one year of experience using distributed file or object storage systems such as HDFS, Amazon S3, Azure Data Lake Storage, Google Cloud Storage, or equivalent technologies.
- Within the last three years, a minimum of one year experience with requirements analysis and design for one or more object-oriented systems.
- Within the past two years, six months development experience with Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Computing Services.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline; an associate's degree in computer science or related discipline and two years programming experience or five years programming experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Skills
- Minimum 1 year hands-on MLOps experience, including fine-tuning and operationalizing small ML models.
- Python and Python libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib, Seaborn, Pytorch, Keras, spaCy, GLiNER).
- Java.
- JavaScript, Angular, React.
- Docker, Kubernetes, AWS.
- Bash.
- Databases – Postgres, Neo4j, ClickHouse, Accumulo, MongoDB, SQLite, DuckDB.
- Operating Systems – Linux (RHEL 8), Windows.
- Experience working with LLMs.
- Experience with Claude Sonnet 4 (desired).
- Ability to write code with dynamic prompts using OpenAI Chat Completions API (desired).

Pay
$87.78 - $124.84 per hour. Hourly pay rates listed reflect the pre-benefit gross wage amounts and may vary based on factors including government contract rates, education, relevant prior work experience, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and geographic location.
