About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team remotely. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and managing cloud environments, primarily AWS and Azure, to ensure their optimal performance, security, and scalability. You will work closely with cloud architects, engineers, and operations teams to design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure that supports critical government applications and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud platform management, virtualization, and automation, with a focus on federal and enterprise environments. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to national security initiatives and public service programs, leveraging cutting-edge cloud technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevSecOps, or platform operations within AWS or Azure environments.
  • Proven expertise in supporting AWS / Azure IaaS and PaaS services, including VM lifecycle management, networking, and platform configuration.
  • Hands-on experience managing large-scale virtual machine environments (hundreds of VMs) in enterprise or federal settings.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as ARM templates, Bicep, or Terraform for automated provisioning and configuration.
  • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins, or similar.
  • Knowledge of security controls, compliance scanning, and automated testing integrated into development pipelines.
  • Experience supporting backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Splunk.
  • Strong troubleshooting, incident response, and operational support skills in mission-critical systems.
  • Ability to create and maintain detailed technical documentation, runbooks, and deployment procedures.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; an active Public Trust or DHS suitability is preferred.
  • U.S. Citizenship without dual citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational support for AWS and Azure cloud environments, including managing IaaS and PaaS services to ensure availability and performance.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of virtual machines, including provisioning, configuration, scaling, patching, and decommissioning, across large-scale VM environments.
  • Support Azure subscription management, including environment expansion and multi-subscription architecture aligned with enterprise governance standards.
  • Design, build, and maintain cloud environments to facilitate application onboarding, testing, and production deployment workflows.
  • Integrate security controls, automated testing, and compliance scanning into CI/CD pipelines to support secure software development and platform hardening.
  • Monitor cloud platforms for performance, security, and availability issues, supporting incident response and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, architects, and enterprise teams to ensure alignment with architecture standards and operational best practices.
  • Support real-time communication systems such as VoIP and VTC within cloud environments, ensuring operational reliability and performance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and deployment procedures to support operational continuity and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize cloud operations, costs, and security posture.
