About the role
We are seeking a highly motivated Cloud Operations Engineer to join the SSDS team in Moorestown, NJ. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in containerization, orchestration, and cloud-native technologies, who can also collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams. The individual will play a key role in maintaining an onsite virtualization environment.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance; U.S. Citizenship is required.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support containerized environments using Podman, Docker, and Docker Compose
- Deploy, monitor, and scale applications on Kubernetes clusters
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable and repeatable deployments
- Work with development, security, and product teams to plan, deploy, and maintain services
- Document operational procedures and create clear runbooks
- Proficient with scripting languages such as Bash, Python
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher (in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or related field) or equivalent related work experience
- 5-7+ years’ experience in Cloud Ops, Site Reliability Engineering, or DevOps
- Hands-on experience with Podman, Docker, and Docker Compose in production environments
- Solid experience deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters
- Proficient with scripting languages such as Bash, Python
- Experience with version control tools, we use Git
- Strong skills with Integrated Development Environments (IDE) such as Eclipse
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools, like Prometheus and Grafana
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and IAM in cloud environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to both engineers and non-engineers
- Comfortable participating in team planning meetings and stakeholder updates
- Familiar with driver-based and automated test environments
Skills
Experience with the following is considered a plus:
- Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
- Familiarity with Podman in rootless environments
- Experience with operating IL5/IL6 compliance environments
- Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Prior experience in high-availability or regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA, SOC2)
