Cloud Network Engineer
About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Network Engineer to join our dynamic team remotely across the continental United States. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud networking infrastructure across major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Your expertise will be critical in building scalable, secure, and reliable cloud networks that support our clients' business operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, security, and operations, to translate complex requirements into effective cloud networking solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Networking, or a related field
- Five or more years of experience in networking, with significant exposure to cloud networking environments
- Deep hands-on experience with networking on at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Strong understanding of routing, switching, BGP, and modern networking fundamentals
- Experience with hybrid connectivity solutions such as Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, or equivalents
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools, especially Terraform, for cloud networking automation
- Comprehensive knowledge of cloud security and network controls, including firewalls, NACLs, security groups, and DDoS mitigation
- Experience with Kubernetes networking, ingress strategies, and service mesh fundamentals
- Strong troubleshooting skills with packet-level analysis capabilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a proven ability to work cross-functionally
Responsibilities
- Design and operate cloud networking architectures including VPC/VNet, subnets, routing, and security groups
- Build transit hub topologies utilizing services like AWS Transit Gateway, Azure Virtual WAN, or GCP Network Connectivity Center
- Design and implement hybrid connectivity solutions such as Direct Connect, ExpressRoute, Cloud Interconnect, and VPNs
- Architect edge networking solutions, including CDN, global load balancing, and WAF integration
- Develop DNS strategies utilizing Route 53, Azure DNS, or Cloud DNS with hybrid resolution capabilities
- Automate cloud networking infrastructure using Terraform, ensuring infrastructure-as-code best practices
- Implement and manage network security controls including firewalls, security groups, and DDoS protection measures
- Operate Kubernetes networking components, including CNI selection, ingress strategies, and service exposure patterns
- Build and maintain observability tools such as flow logs, traffic insights, and packet capture for network monitoring
- Drive cost optimization initiatives by reducing data transfer costs and right-sizing network resources
- Troubleshoot complex cloud networking issues across hybrid and multi-cloud environments
- Stay current with the latest cloud networking platform updates, emerging patterns, and best practices
