About the role

The City of San José is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join the Information Technology Department. This position is currently eligible for a hybrid telework schedule (32 hours on site, 8 hours remote).

Responsibilities

  • Manage Public Cloud (Azure) governance and operations, distributed file systems (and/or FileShare), and enterprise storage
  • System management and monitoring
  • Provide service improvement through automation
  • Perform hands-on system configuration and advanced troubleshooting of infrastructure issues to ensure service availability to meet service level expectations
  • Design and implement Azure cloud backup and Disaster Recovery of infrastructure services
  • Upgrade Windows server and FileShare cluster
  • Administer and monitor server backup operations

Requirements

  • EITE I: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Business and Public Administration, or a closely related field AND three (3) years of increasingly progressive experience
  • EITE II: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS, Business and Public Administration, or a closely related field AND four (4) years of increasingly progressive experience
  • Two (2) years of related experience may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the education requirement.

  • Ability to Understand Complexities: Technical hands-on experience in designing, configuring, implementing, managing, troubleshooting and administering current technologies such as: Hybrid virtual/physical infrastructure, Single Sign-On (SSO), Web Application Proxy, PowerShell scripting, Disaster Recovery, SSL certificates and domain registration, Windows Server administration, Active Directory and Group Policy, Enterprise Storage, Azure resource management, Load balancing, Cloud governance, Network troubleshooting, Distributed File System and/or Fileshare, Solarwinds system monitoring and alerting.

Benefits

The City of San José offers a competitive salary range for the EITE I/II classification, including a 5% Non-Pensionable Wage Increase (NPWI). The salary range is as follows:

  • EITE I: $127,108.80 – $154,649.04
  • EITE II: $134,643.60 – $164,062.08

The EITE I/II classification is represented by the Municipal Employees' Federation (MEF) AFSCME, Local 101 bargaining unit.

Pay

The final candidate’s qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Enterprise Information Technology Engineer (EITE) I/II classification shall also receive approximately five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

The City of San José is creating the civic technology foundation that helps our community thrive every day. The Infrastructure Cloud Engineer position is currently eligible for a hybrid telework schedule (32 hours on site, 8 hours remote). The schedule for working remotely and onsite is subject to change.
