Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
About the Role
The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will help modernize University Advancement’s Azure cloud and hybrid infrastructure to deliver secure, scalable data and analytics services. This role designs and implements enterprise infrastructure and platforms supporting cloud computing, data analytics, and migration from on-premise environments to the cloud. The engineer collaborates with teams and stakeholders across University Advancement to align business needs with an enterprise vision for cloud infrastructure practices, building solutions that support engagement and fundraising initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Strategy and Planning (30%)
- Lead, plan, and advise on strategic and tactical direction for deploying, managing, and optimizing Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure that is scalable, efficient, secure, and cost-effective.
- Architect infrastructure solutions aligning with business objectives and supporting cloud data and analytics solutions and pipelines.
- Analyze and recommend ways to optimize costs and improve operational efficiency within cloud infrastructure.
- Implementation and Administration (50%)
- Implement infrastructure solutions to support data and system integration between on-premises and cloud environments.
- Ensure cloud-based infrastructure adheres to industry security best practices.
- Design infrastructure solutions that support big data efficiently and optimize storage cost and performance.
- Administer and monitor hybrid infrastructure environments, including virtual machines, SQL databases, and related services.
- Stakeholder Collaboration (10%)
- Lead, mentor, and support cloud infrastructure adoption with diverse staff, including product owners, project managers, and data teams.
- Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences in written and verbal form.
- Other Duties as Assigned (10%)
Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, your application must demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field AND four years of experience in architecture, design, implementation, and support of cloud-based infrastructure and applications.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Strong cloud infrastructure expertise, with Microsoft Azure experience preferred, including architecting, deploying, and supporting data and analytics solutions in collaborative environments.
- Proven success in designing, implementing, and supporting infrastructure and applications in hybrid cloud environments.
- Demonstrated experience applying cloud security best practices and securing network infrastructure, including SQL and document-oriented databases, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Experience automating infrastructure and improving reliability through scripting and systems development.
- Proven success in implementing and managing monitoring solutions for hybrid environments.
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise business applications and data platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Microsoft Fabric.
- Understanding of data science tools, machine learning lifecycle concepts, and analytics operations.
- Experience building scalable data platforms and big data solutions that drive business insights.
- Ability to leverage AI technologies to automate system processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

Schedule
- Hybrid-work schedule with two days in the office and three days eligible for telework per week.
- Workload and times may vary, including occasional evenings or weekends, to respond to system outages during off-hours.
- Some system setup and maintenance required outside of normal business hours.
Pay
Pay Range: $105,000.00 – $110,004.00 annual
