Cloud Engineer Principal

About the Role

Assesses the technology infrastructure—including Platform, Data & Analytics, Development, and End User Computing—to explore cloud migration options. Oversees strategies, processes, and procedures for migrating and maintaining the company’s cloud computing environment.

Responsibilities

• Creates a well-informed cloud strategy and manages the adaptation process.
• Designs, plans, manages, maintains, and supports the organization’s cloud computing environment, including all associated technological duties.
• Monitors cloud resource consumption, request fulfillment turnaround, application performance, and systems security posture; evaluates cloud applications, hardware, and software as needed.
• Designs technical solutions on public cloud environments such as Azure or AWS, creating functional design specifications, reference architectures, and other technical documentation.
• Works cross-functionally with multiple teams to analyze cloud service provider SLAs, KRIs, and KPIs.
• Collaborates with Engineering teams to enable their applications to run on applicable cloud platforms.
• Works closely with IT security to monitor the company’s cloud privacy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and work experience; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• Ability to address technical issues within a complex stack involving visualization, containers, microservices, etc.
• Understanding of software development, engineering, programming languages, and tools.
• Strong collaborative skills and mindset, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation abilities, to convey information to both IT and non-IT audiences.

Pay

Salary range: $104,000–$174,000. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this role. Individual pay will be determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based incentive opportunity.
