About the role
The Cloud Engineer - Junior plays a vital role in supporting the deployment, management, and optimization of cloud-based infrastructure within an enterprise setting. Under the guidance of senior engineers, this position is responsible for provisioning cloud resources, implementing foundational Infrastructure as Code, and ensuring the security and scalability of cloud services across major commercial platforms such as AWS and Azure. Responsibilities
- Assist with provisioning and managing cloud resources across platforms such as AWS and Azure, adhering to established standards and guardrails
- Support the development and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code using tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or similar automation frameworks
- Implement basic cloud networking configurations, including virtual networks, subnets, routing, and connectivity under supervision
- Apply foundational security practices such as IAM configuration, role and policy management, and access control
- Monitor cloud environments using native tools, assist in troubleshooting performance and availability issues, and triage alerts
- Support cloud cost management efforts by identifying unused or underutilized resources and recommending optimization strategies
- Assist in implementing backup, recovery, and business continuity processes aligned with enterprise standards
- Document cloud configurations, operational procedures, and runbooks to ensure operational consistency and team knowledge sharing
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 1-3 years of foundational experience in cloud engineering or IT infrastructure roles
- Hands-on experience with cloud resource provisioning, automation, and security concepts
- Ability to meet DoD 8140 requirements and obtain/maintain an active Secret clearance
- US citizenship required to support federal client and clearance requirements
- Effective communication skills and ability to work remotely within a team environment
