Cloud Engineer – GCP & Terraform

About the role

Our client, a leading organization in the financial sector, is looking for a cloud professional to build and implement a Google Cloud Foundation MVP. This role focuses on establishing a future-proof enterprise architecture to enable the adoption of advanced AI platforms and migrate existing workloads while maintaining strict security standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement an enterprise-wide Google Cloud architecture aligned with organizational standards and policies.
• Define and deploy a future-proof cloud foundation to facilitate the adoption of AI platforms.
• Design and establish robust security, governance, and Identity & Access Management (IAM) frameworks.
• Automate platform components and foundational services using Infrastructure as Code.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and observability capabilities integrated with existing security platforms.
• Develop cost tracking and FinOps management processes for cloud optimization.
• Support the migration of existing workloads to the new cloud environment while ensuring architectural compliance.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in enterprise environments.
• 5+ years experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
• 5+ years development experience using Python.
• Expertise in cloud foundation design, landing zone implementation, and cloud networking architectures.
• Strong knowledge of Identity & Access Management (IAM), RBAC, and security controls.
• Experience with AWS services, including networking, gateways, and container services.
• Analytical thinker who is proactive, flexible, and solution-oriented.
• Fluent in English.

Skills

• Experience with AI platforms such as Google Gemini, Microsoft Foundry, or AWS Bedrock.
• Understanding of FinOps practices and cloud lifecycle management.
• Knowledge of the financial services industry.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
• Active knowledge of Dutch.
