Cloud Engineer
Location: Any CAT HUB (Chicago, IL; Peoria, IL; Irving, TX; Cary, NC; Nashville, TN)
This is a net-new role on the team. The Vercel platform currently has no defined service owner, documented processes, control mappings, support model, or trained staff.
About the role
The Vercel Platform Support Engineer is responsible for the operational support, administration, reliability, and continuous improvement of the Vercel hosting platform used for enterprise web applications. This role partners with development teams, product owners, architects, security teams, and external vendors to ensure high availability, performance, security, and scalability of applications hosted on Vercel.
The engineer will provide platform governance, incident management, deployment support, monitoring, user access administration, and technical consultation for teams building modern web applications using Next.js, React, APIs, and cloud-native architectures.
The mandate is to elevate the platform to Level 3 (Defined) maturity against the published Service Maturity Model, complete all 21 required service-offering artifacts, evidence client IT General Control (ITGC) and Security Directive alignment, train the existing team, and establish proactive operational processes before the platform carries production, customer-facing traffic. This work will be in addition to the existing portfolio (Adobe Platform, AEM Sites, AEM Assets, Target, Workfront, Akamai) that the team already runs at capacity.
Responsibilities
- Operational support and administration of the Vercel hosting platform
- Ensure high availability, performance, security, and scalability of applications hosted on Vercel
- Provide platform governance, incident management, and deployment support
- Monitor platform performance and manage user access administration
- Offer technical consultation for teams building modern web applications using Next.js, React, APIs, and cloud-native architectures
- Stand up the platform to Level 3 (Defined) maturity against the Service Maturity Model
- Complete all 21 required service-offering artifacts
- Evidence client IT General Control (ITGC) and Security Directive alignment
- Train the existing team and establish proactive operational processes
Interaction With Team
- Work with the Product Owner and a team of 6-7 platform engineers at various levels
- Collaborate with other support teams (Level 1 or Level 2)
Work Environment
Candidates need to be roughly local to one of the Digital Hubs but must be able to come into the office when needed.
