Core Responsibilities
- Feature Development: Write, test, and maintain cloud-native code and scripts (PowerShell, Bash, JSON) specifically designed for AWS environments.
- Pipeline Execution: Proactively monitor and trigger GitLab CI/CD pipelines, ensuring all unit tests and security scans pass prior to merging.
- Process Adherence: Draft detailed Change Requests (CRs) for all production deployments, gathering necessary artifacts and test results for CAB approval.
- Documentation: Maintain high standards of documentation by updating technical specs, API documentation, and team runbooks in Confluence.
- Agile Collaboration: Actively participate in sprint cycles, providing daily status updates in Jira and collaborating with senior engineers to refine technical tasks.
Key Technical Expectations
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Deploy and manage AWS resources using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Containerization: Experience managing containerized environments (ECS with Fargate or Rancher RKE2).
- Configuration Management: Utilize AWS Systems Manager (SSM) for routine operations and manage secrets via AWS Parameter Store.
- Experience with Ansible is a plus.
- Deployment Logistics: Experience with AWS StackSets for managing resources across multiple accounts and regions.
- Version Control: Expert use of Git; submit functional code via Merge Requests and participate in active peer code reviews.
- Troubleshooting: Ability to interpret GitLab pipeline logs to identify and resolve basic build or test failures independently.
Qualifications
- Experience Level: 1.5 - 3 years of professional experience in cloud development or DevOps engineering.
- Security Clearance: Must possess an active Secret Interim or Secret clearance.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Tools Proficiency: Proficient with GitLab, AWS, Jira, and Confluence.
