Cloud Developer Principal
About the Role
GDIT/ARMA-Global is currently pursuing a qualified candidate to serve as Cloud Developer Principal to support the design, development, engineering, integration, testing, implementation, and sustainment of critical cloud technologies for our customers.
Responsibilities
As a Cloud Developer Principal, you will support customer mission objectives by designing, developing, integrating, securing, and sustaining cloud‑based applications and services. You will collaborate with multi‑discipline teams to build scalable, resilient, and secure cloud solutions that enhance enterprise operations.
- Develop, integrate, and maintain cloud‑hosted applications and services
- Build elastic, highly available, and fault‑tolerant cloud solutions using modern cloud architectures
- Automate deployment pipelines and infrastructure using CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Translate customer and stakeholder requirements into cloud‑based technical solutions
- Migrate legacy on‑premise systems to cloud environments using established patterns and automation tools
- Integrate cloud applications with identity, authentication, authorization, and directory services
- Ensure solutions adhere to cloud and cybersecurity best practices including zero‑trust, RBAC, and secure configuration guidelines
- Support cloud operations, troubleshooting, sustainment, and continuous improvement activities
- Participate in cloud architecture, design, and modernization discussions
- Maintain documentation for cloud environments, deployments, and configurations
- Brief leadership and stakeholders on cloud development activities, risks, and planned enhancements
- Provide training, user guides, and knowledge transfer for newly delivered cloud capabilities
- Monitor emerging cloud technologies and proposing enhancements to improve efficiency, reliability, and security
- Lead cloud development tasks, supporting project milestones, and performing hands-on coding, testing, and deployment
- Execute approved cloud strategies and fostering productive relationships across teams to deliver resilient cloud services
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of DoD and Air Force Special Operations
- Familiarity with Department of Defense Architecture Framework viewpoints
- Experience developing, integrating, or sustaining applications in cloud environments (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP acceptable)
- Strong working knowledge of cloud services such as: Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, Containerization (Docker), AWS CLI, CloudFormation, Ansible Playbooks
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation using tools such as: Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions
- Experience with identity and directory services including: Active Directory, Identity Access Management and federation tools, Keycloak, Red Hat SSO, PKI / certificates
- Strong understanding of Linux (RHEL) and Windows operating systems
- Experience developing cloud components using modern programming or scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python)
- Ability to troubleshoot cloud applications across development, testing, and production environments
- Experience with configuration management, version control, and code repositories (GitLab, GitHub)
- Experience implementing secure cloud configurations aligned with RMF, STIGs, SCAP, and DevSecOps principles
- Ability to create and maintain cloud system documentation, diagrams, baseline configurations, deployment artifacts, and user guides
- Ability to work independently as well as within collaborative team environments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly
- Strong problem‑solving skills with ability to research and communicate solutions effectively
Requirements
- BS in a related technical field or equivalent experience plus required years of experience
- 5+ years of combined DoD and/or Commercial industry IT experience
- Two (2) of the five (5) years’ experience must be implementing/sustaining enterprise-level solutions in a production cloud environment
- Current DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (Sec+ CE or equivalent) Required
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate Required
- Linux+ Desired
- Must have a SECRET clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI (TS/SCI)
- US citizenship required

Pay
The likely salary range for this position is $106,250 - $143,750. Salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
