Cloud Developer / AWS Cloud Developer

About the role

The client is seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Cloud Developer to support its AWS cloud development and migration initiatives. This position focuses heavily on application development in the cloud, with an emphasis on Python, AWS, Lambda, Java, APIs, and backend development.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based applications and services
• Contribute to the migration of existing on-premises applications to AWS
• Work extensively with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, Kafka, CloudWatch, API development, and system design
• Write production code on a daily basis

Requirements

• Extensive hands-on AWS experience
• Heavy Lambda experience
• Strong backend/application development experience
• Strong API development experience
• Terraform/IaC experience
• Kafka experience
• System design experience

Qualifications

• 14–15+ years total development/cloud experience
• Strong Java background earlier in career
• 5+ years Python
• Extensive AWS experience
• Currently writing Python code daily

Skills

• Python — extremely important
• Strong production Python development
• Extensive hands-on AWS experience
• Recent AWS experience preferred
• AWS migration experience is highly relevant
• AWS Lambda — critical
• Candidates must have hands-on Lambda experience
• Java + Python
• Ideal candidate has a Java development background and transitioned into Python/AWSC
• Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Kafka
• CloudWatch
• API development
• System design
