Cloud Architect, Senior
Everyone is trying to “harness the cloud”, but not every team knows how. As a cloud computing application architect, you’ll create cloud-based technical architectures that meet client needs and leverage cloud capabilities. This role lets you apply your cloud architecture skills to improve national security by developing cloud-based solutions for some of the nation’s toughest challenges. You’ll use the latest cloud technologies to enhance client environments, inform strategy, and ensure standards are met throughout the cloud migration process. Your expertise will guide tool and solution recommendations based on research of current environments and knowledge of on-premises, cloud-based, and hybrid resources. You’ll lead a team helping clients overcome their most difficult cloud challenges while broadening your own skill set.
Responsibilities
- Design pragmatic migration paths that keep systems operational during transformation
- Develop cloud-based solutions for complex national security challenges
- Recommend tools and solutions based on research of current environments and cloud capabilities
- Lead a team to help clients overcome cloud-related challenges
- Inform strategy and design while ensuring standards are met throughout cloud migration
- Apply knowledge of cloud economics, VPC design, storage tiers, compute options, and security controls
- Navigate agency-specific nuances in cloud migration, including ATO and WANDS environments
- Deliver iterative solutions through rapid prototyping, tight feedback loops, and incremental wins
Requirements
- Experience building complex enterprise infrastructure using systems engineering principles
- Experience with production AWS or cloud architecture
- Experience with infrastructure modernization, leading technical transformations, building ROI models, and comprehending incremental migration
- Experience with iterative delivery through rapid prototyping, tight feedback loops, and incremental wins
- Knowledge of cloud economics and trade-offs, VPC design, storage tiers, compute options, and security controls
- Knowledge of agency-specific nuances with cloud migration, including ATO and WANDS environments
- TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
- Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of experience with the cloud, or 16+ years of experience with the cloud in lieu of a degree
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience in CNO spaces or similar high-side environments
- Experience with CNO development
- Experience with cost optimization, including right-sizing cloud resources, building FinOps practices, or making defensible recommendations about cloud implementations
- Knowledge of infrastructure priorities
- Knowledge of restricted environments, constraints, processes, and security controls as they impact architecture decisions
- Ability to effectively communicate between cloud consultants, mission developers, security teams, and executives
- Excellent technical communication and stakeholder management skills

Pay
Salary is determined by various factors, including location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD).
Schedule
This role may be remote, hybrid, or onsite:
- Remote: Primarily virtual, with occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility.
- Hybrid: Frequent work from a Booz Allen facility, with additional visits to customer facilities as needed.
- Onsite: Work primarily performed at a Booz Allen office or customer facility, collaborating directly with colleagues and customers.
For virtual work, cameras are generally expected to be on during meetings to support engagement and effective communication.
