Cloud Application Developer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Cloud Application Developer to support the modernization and enhancement of large-scale transactional systems within an enterprise environment. This role will focus on developing highly reliable, event-driven microservices, supporting cloud migration initiatives, and contributing to the modernization of legacy applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable microservices supporting large-scale transactional systems
• Participate in modernization initiatives, including the migration of legacy applications to cloud-based architectures
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications leveraging AWS services and event-driven technologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements and implement technical solutions
• Support the migration of legacy platforms and applications while ensuring system reliability and performance
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and implement sustainable solutions in high-availability environments
• Contribute to architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design decisions
• Monitor application performance and recommend enhancements to improve scalability and operational efficiency

Requirements

• 7+ years of software development experience
• Strong proficiency in Java development
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services
• Experience designing and supporting transactional systems and transactional microservices
• Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka
• Experience with Amazon SQS
• Experience with AWS EventBridge

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting large-scale customer-facing platforms
• Experience with event-driven architecture patterns
• Experience working within outage management, telecommunications, utility, or other mission-critical operational systems
• Knowledge of application modernization strategies and cloud transformation initiatives

Work Environment

• Location: St. Louis, MO; Charlotte, NC; or Coppell, TX
• Hybrid schedule: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote
• Interview process includes a technical interview and live coding assessment

Pay

The approximate pay range for this position is between $101,500.00 and $145,000.00. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
