Cloud/AI Engineer

About the role

Design, develop, and deploy secure, scalable cloud-native and AI solutions for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) programs. Senior technical leader responsible for modernizing legacy systems, architecting enterprise cloud platforms, developing production-grade AI applications, and implementing Generative AI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, deployment, and sustainment of secure, scalable cloud and AI solutions for FAA
• Collaborate with government stakeholders to translate business requirements into technology solutions
• Lead modernization of legacy systems through cloud transformation
• Establish architecture, engineering, security, and software development best practices
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams
• Ensure solutions meet federal security, governance, compliance, and operational requirements
• Develop technical documentation and architecture artifacts
• Evaluate emerging technologies and resolve complex technical challenges

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
• 20+ years Cloud Engineer experience
• 3+ years AI Engineer experience
• Enterprise-scale technology solutions delivery across public/private sectors
• Hands-on cloud engineering, cloud-based application development, full stack software engineering
• Proven track record with production-grade applications (front-end, back-end, cloud data platforms)
• Experience migrating legacy systems to cloud and refactoring to microservices (Docker, Kubernetes, serverless, AWS/Azure/Google Cloud)
• Experience migrating on-premises data warehouses to cloud platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, Azure Synapse)
• Strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, FastAPI, SQL, Spark/PySpark, REST APIs
• Expertise in CI/CD, DevOps, infrastructure automation (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Experience with APIs, event-driven architectures, workflow orchestration, distributed services
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and cloud architecture best practices
• Experience with Generative AI (LLMs, RAG, agentic AI, semantic search, vector databases)
• AI application lifecycle management in cloud environments (MLOps)
• Collaboration with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Experience in regulated, compliance-sensitive, or enterprise environments
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems-thinking skills
