About the role

Mental Health America of Los Angeles (MHALA) is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving mental health services, advocacy, and training. With over 19,000 low-income and no-income individuals served annually, MHALA focuses on integrated services in mental and physical healthcare, homelessness, supported employment, and wellness. The agency also offers training programs for the behavioral health workforce and the broader community.

Responsibilities

• Provide a spectrum of direct services, administrative tasks, individual and group therapy in support of individuals assigned to the program based on the psychosocial rehabilitation model of treatment and services.
• Achieve medical necessity through assessment, diagnosis, clinical treatment, or linkage to mental health services.
• Coordinate and consult with staff for therapeutic case management and rehabilitation services to assist individuals in accessing resources.
• Collaborate with the team to provide clinical guidance, identify member needs, and communicate within the integrated team to meet those needs.
• Maintain all records and documentation, ensuring compliance with MHALA standards and funding source requirements.
• Participate in regular team meetings and proactively communicate about member concerns.
• Manage billing and program objectives according to MHALA and County Contracted Provider standards.
• Complete documentation in accordance with MHALA and LACDMH County Contracted Provider funding source requirements, and document in Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary Wellness Center team, providing member-centered counseling, coaching, instruction, and feedback.
• Empower individuals to improve their quality of life, work closely with program participants and their families, and ensure their needs are expressed and they have a voice in treatment decisions.
• Attend and participate in professional development activities to maintain and enhance personal and professional skills.

Requirements

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Associate Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, or Licensed Psychologist.
• Minimum of one-year of post-graduation clinical experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Good basic English writing skills, good basic computer skills, highly organized, excellent communication skills, flexibility, and ability to multitask.
• Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Adequate understanding of clinical related concerns, ethics, boundaries, and best practices.
• Team-oriented, self-directed, good listening and communication skills, empathy, and dedication to fulfilling the demands of the position.
• Current class C driver’s license, vehicle for transportation, valid automobile insurance, and proof of insurance by MHALA’s liability insurance.

Qualifications

• TB clearance and re-testing every year.
• May require COVID-19 vaccinations or booster shots in the future, subject to change.

SkillsKnowledge of characteristics of individuals who are substance abusing and/or dually diagnosed.

Understanding of local services available for dually diagnosed individuals.

Proficiency in computer applications.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

• ASWs, AMFTs, APCCs: $34.00 to $34.50 per hour ($61,880 to $62,790 annualized full-time)
• LCSWs, LMFTs, and LPCCs: $39.00 to $40.00 per hour ($70,980 to $72,800 annualized full-time)
• Licensed Psychologists: $55.00 to $75.00 per hour ($100,100 to $136,500 annualized full-time)
