Overview
In conjunction with the Principal Investigator, this Clinician and Clinical Research Director (CCRD) is responsible for the strategic, operational, clinical, and regulatory duties associated with the leadership of the InSTRIDE Program. This role encompasses providing direct clinical care and medical oversight, management of all clinical research activities, and overall administrative responsibility for the InSTRIDE program and staff.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Duties include conducting clinical assessments, ordering diagnostic testing and treatment, prescribing and administering medications, obtaining biological specimens, assessing and managing adverse events, and serving as the Medical Director for all clinical and research activities.
- The CCRD will provide medical oversight and direct clinical care, including in-person and telehealth, related to clinical and clinical research activities in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including mobile health units and brick-and-mortar locations.
- The CCRD will lead development, implementation, and expansion of clinical research programs, mobile health services, mobile pharmacy operations, telehealth initiatives, and decentralized clinical trial models across multiple care settings and community-based locations.
- The CCRD will support the development and submission of grant applications and funding proposals, including NIH, NIDA, foundation, and other sponsored research opportunities, focusing on clinical research infrastructure, telehealth, behavioral health, addiction medicine, and community-based care initiatives.
- The CCRD will lead and support the dissemination of clinical, operational, and translational research findings through presentations, publications, conferences, strategic collaborations, and institutional reporting at various levels.
- The CCRD will collaborate with Yale partners on the development and implementation of telehealth and innovative healthcare delivery programs designed to improve access to care and support clinical research participation.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Directs and implements solutions to problems that are routine to complex in nature and that affect multiple functional areas of responsibility.
- Plans and/or participates in planning University activities on a long-term basis to comply with University goals and objectives.
- Establishes and implements consistent university-wide policies in multiple functional areas of responsibility.
- Ensures that University office policies and procedures are in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
- Develops and monitors goals and objectives for managerial and professional staff in compliance with University strategies.
- Directs a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Maintains compliance with DEA, FDA, NIH, NIDA, HIPAA, ICH-GCP, and federal and state research regulations while ensuring operational readiness, audit preparedness, participant safety, and regulatory excellence.
- Expands clinical and research programs into additional geographic regions, healthcare systems, and community settings to support institutional growth, community engagement, and broader access to clinical research and healthcare services.
Required License(s) or Certification(s)
CT APRN license (or eligible) with ANCC or AANP certification. Prescriptive privileges (or eligible) in the State of Connecticut, a federal DEA license, and CT DCP license for prescription of controlled substances.
Required Skills And Abilities
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Demonstrated progressively responsible experience in a leadership role.
- Experience managing populations with substance use disorders and living with or at risk for HIV.
- Experience leading interdisciplinary teams, including APRNs.
- Experience supporting NIH-funded research initiatives.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
