Clinical Training Coordinator ( MA/ LPN)
About the Role
The Clinical Training Coordinator will work cross-departmentally to provide oversight and implementation of PHS' clinical training and development initiatives. This role builds the PHS clinical team members’ expertise in patient care skills through demonstrations, continuing education courses, and other educational offerings. The coordinator supports routine clinical and EHR processes, competency assessment, recruitment, onboarding, (re)training, and the Medical Assistant preceptor program. They act as the primary resource for clinical training inquiries from clinical staff, providers, and training leads, delivering instruction, troubleshooting equipment, conducting competency evaluations, and teaching Basic Life Support (BLS) to all current clinical staff.
Responsibilities
- Develop and improve onboarding training for new clinical employees in group and/or one-on-one settings, both virtual and in-person.
- Serve as the go-to expert for clinical training questions and guidance from clinical staff, providers, and Clinical Trainers.
- Provide additional support to Clinical Trainers and assist in addressing complex training and support inquiries.
- Work closely with leadership and HR to ensure a valuable onboarding experience for staff.
- Develop and improve clinical training curriculum.
- Assign and assess clinical competencies of new clinical employees, ensuring they can work independently within 90 days of employment.
- Conduct 30-60-90 competency assessments of new clinical hires.
- Assist with clinical equipment troubleshooting.
- Develop and update policies and procedures that align with best practices and standard workflows.
- Coordinate and conduct annual or recurring training.
- Participate in developing and implementing clinical services and training strategies to address performance gaps.
- Act as the PHS contact and provide oversight for the Medical Assistant Preceptor Program and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Placement Program.
- Collaborate with HR and leadership to recommend clinical staff for continuing education and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with leadership, IT, HR, Clinic Operations, and other stakeholders on projects, change management, training strategy, and project rollouts.
- Teach Basic Life Support (BLS) to all current clinical staff.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant (MA) certification required; higher clinical degree preferred.
- Three or more years of training experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
- Training certification strongly preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) strongly preferred, preferably NextGen.
- Experience working with nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physicians, and clinical support staff.
- Impeccable organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

- High empathy skills and understanding of effective teaching methodologies.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to adapt to various learning styles.

Physical Demands

Work Environment
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation.
