Clinical Technician - Emergency Department (ED)

The Main Campus Emergency Department at Cleveland Clinic provides comprehensive care to patients 24/7. Caregivers here treat over 61,000 adult and pediatric patients annually, playing a crucial role in the healthcare system.

Responsibilities

• Check vital signs and weight
• Absorb and report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to an RN
• Assist with personal care tasks
• Perform point-of-care testing
• Apply and remove external monitoring devices
• Remove urinary Foley catheters
• Keep patient rooms clean and organized

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience
• Nursing Students must have BLS certification prior to hire
• Additional education/training may substitute for some/all of the stated experience
• Military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) may be considered

Qualifications

• Physical Requirements: Full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; extensive standing and walking. Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
• Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
