Department Overview

Our St. Paul 6th floor is a 26-bed pediatric medical/surgical unit that cares for a spectrum of children from infants to young adults suffering from both acute and chronic medical conditions. The team specializes in the care of patients with diabetes, respiratory conditions, and surgical post-operative care with a specialty in urological surgery. The unit also provides medical stabilization to children with eating disorders through the Center for the Treatment of Eating Disorders.

Patients have an average length of stay ranging from days to several weeks for specialty diagnoses. Care is delivered by strong interdisciplinary teams that include child life, social work, integrative medicine, dietitians, case managers, and other specialists. The environment promotes teamwork, open and respectful communication, learning, and professional growth.

About the Role

Provides safe patient care as delegated by licensed nursing staff and maintains equipment and supplies per unit standard. Requires completion of a nursing assistant course or equivalent experience, or completion of a nursing or health care-related clinical practicum course. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of previous Nursing Assistant experience or equivalent experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak effectively in English to perform functions of the position.

Pay

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. Annual salaries are based on full-time employment (40 standard hours per week) and are prorated for part-time positions. Individual pay rates consider market indicators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, internal equity, and organizational needs.

Benefits

This position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions requiring night, weekend, or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
