CLINICAL STAFF PHARMACIST I

About the role
Under the supervision of Pharmacy Leadership and according to standard procedures; compounds and dispenses medications and provides pharmaceutical care upon receiving provider orders; performs all duties necessary to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs; responsible for medication dosing and monitoring by provider referral; active participant in codes; supervises interns and technicians in all work areas assigned; participates in training pharmacy students and technicians; participates in clinical research protocols and drug therapy research activities.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (B.S.Pharm) from an accredited college of pharmacy required
- PharmD from an accredited college of pharmacy preferred
Licensure & Certification
- Current licensure as a registered pharmacist by the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy, or eligibility to become licensed within 60 days of employment start date
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 90 days of employment start date
Experience
- Preferred: six months or more of hospital pharmacy internship or hospital experience as a pharmacist
- Exclusive retail experience discouraged; more than 10 years disqualifies candidate
Knowledge & Skills
- Good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and write printed material in English
- Ability to effectively perform patient interviews and medication counseling
- Ability to work well with other health care workers and perform as a team
- Proficient with aseptic technique when utilizing both horizontal and vertical flow hoods
- Customer-service oriented
- Proficiency with computer keyboard operations and Microsoft Office applications preferred
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and/or perform minor maintenance on pharmacy equipment, printers, computers, and telecommunication equipment with adequate training
- Familiarity with pharmacy software
- Flexibility in scheduling essential as mentor/trainer of new coworkers
